#250 hot shoe

#251 shoe #252 shoe

The three Wink-Light models differed only in their sync arrangments. The Wink-light #250 had a hot shoe connection (top) while the #252 had an ASA bayonet sync cord and Polaroid accesory shoe (above right) to enable Wink-Light technology to be used with 3000 speed picture rolls in Land Camera Models 95/95A/95B, One Hundred and The 700. The box for the #252 clearly states that "No Wink Light is available for two Land Cameras The original Model 95 (Discontinued in 1954) The original Model 110 (Discontinued in 1956)". It may have been pressure from profesionals using the original Model 110 Pathfinder that persuaded Polaroid to produce the Wink-Light #251 with an ASA 2-pin cord and Polaroid accesory shoe fitting (above left) especially for Model 110. This item was to special order only and came in a simple, labelled box reusing the polysyrene and card inner (but with a new sticker).

The Wink-Light 45V radio battery charged a capacitor (in about 15 seconds) and discharged through a 12V bulb producing an intense burst of light when the shutter was tripped. The bulb was good for the life of the battery and they were replaced togther. Thanks for Bob Huber for gifting this complete Mallory PF460 replacement battery and 428 bulb pack.

All Wink-Lights were suppllied with the #256 Auxiliary Flasher to boost light output through using an AG-1 flashbulb. This could also be used for bounce flash. The Wink Light was originally supplied with light seal kits for Speedliner and Highlander models and a #451 4-stop reducer.
