First, the famous Swinger TV commercial, starring Ali McGraw — filmed at Treasure Cay on Abaco Island in the Bahamas in the early summer of 1965. The name 'Swinger' came from Doyle Dane Bernbach's Phyllis Robinson who also wrote the lyrics to the jingle to music composed by Mitch Leigh. At the time Ali McGraw was 27, looked 17, and was working as a photographer's stylist in NY. She walked in a circle around the panning camera.
One of the copmmercial's still pictures, seen 30 seconds in, appears in the Swinger and Swinger II/Sentinel manuals illustrating Possible Picture troubles: End torn off. Ali McGraw is seated in the middle.
The second commercial is a follow-up campaign, shot in Central Park, NY again with Alil McGraw. This comes courtesy of Grover Dale's www.Answers4dancers.com — Grover is the first guy you see riding the bike. A talented actor and dancer he appeared in many 1960s US TV commercials.
