Light seals instructions
Light seals

With the introduction of high speed Type 47 3000ASA film in 1959 some of the older cameras required retrofit light proofing seals. Cameras manufactured with light seals had an L prefix serial number.

The kit for the 80 and 80A cameras comprised a chenille wire and plastics strip to seal the camera body, a metal cover with a rubber grommet that fitted around the I-B switch on the camera lens board and a grey plastics hood to fit over the top of the lens board blacking out leaks from the EV number window and wheel.
